WoW Writing Contest
- Contest is open to paid workshop attendees, ages 18 and up.
- Submissions must be by single-author, an original work with no AI-generated passages, and previously unpublished in print or online.
- One paid entry of $10 per author. Authors retain submission ownership and are free to submit their stories elsewhere at any time.
- Contest is open to prose entries including mystery, thriller, sci-fi, paranormal, memoirs, children’s books including chapter and middle grade through YA, and other genres. Poetry is not accepted. Entry may be a complete story or the beginning of a longer work.
- Entries containing hate speech targeting specific individuals or groups or including excessive profanity, explicit violence, and detailed sexual content are not accepted in this contest.
- Entries may be no more than 1,500 words. Title and other requested information will not be included in word count.
- Manuscripts are to be double-spaced, use Times New Roman font in 12 point, and include page numbers.
- Each entry will be judged by multiple published authors and receive scoresheets with feedback comments at the workshop on June 1.
- Contest winners will be announced during the workshop on Saturday, June 1, 2024.
- Entries awarded top scores will receive $75 cash for first place, $50 for second, and $25 for third. In addition their names, short bios, and story titles with contest placement will be posted on our website. Writers of Warrensburg members are ineligible for entry.
- Authors who final as the top three will be asked for photo and a short bio (less than 100 words) to be included on Writers of Warrensburg website.
- NOTE: Contest Deadline for entry is 11:59 p.m. CST Friday, May 3, 2024.
- After signing up and paying your fee, you will receive an email detailing where to submit your entry.
Book Signing
A multi-author book signing will be open to the public from 3:00-4:00.

Events will be held at Trails Regional Library at 432 N. Holden St., Warrensburg, MO 64093.
Library Conduct Requirements in place for all activities.
